Joe Piccolo is a partner at Davidson Berquist Jackson & Gowdey. Joe received a B.S.E.E. from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from New York University. After law school, Joe clerked for Federal Circuit Judge Alan Lourie. Then, for more than twenty-eight years, Joe represented the PTO in numerous appeals and civil actions. While doing so, Joe orally argued 50 Federal Circuit appeals and drafted more than 80 Federal Circuit briefs. He was also co-counsel in more than 60 additional Federal Circuit briefs. Additionally, Joe litigated more than 80 PTO civil actions, usually involving the appeal of agency action to a district court. Joe achieved numerous victories throughout his federal government career. Joe is a registered patent attorney, focusing on PTAB Appeals. He is a regular speaker on the topic of PTAB Appeals.
Steve McBride is a partner at Carmichael IP. Steve is an experienced patent attorney focusing on representing clients in front of the Patent Office for inter partes reviews, reexaminations, and other post-grant proceedings. In addition to PTAB experience, Steve has successfully represented dozens of clients in patent litigations in U.S. district courts, the Federal Circuit, and the International Trade Commission. Steve is a registered patent attorney and has been published frequently on a variety of patent-related topics. Steve has spent over a decade handling post-grant proceedings, patent litigation, and other intellectual property disputes. Before law school, he worked as an engineer in the telecommunications industry. Steve received a J.D. from Columbia University and has B.S. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from West Virginia University.
