Initially, I was hesitant to accept the moderator position for this month’s LIVE LinkedIn panel for IP Talk: Brand Insights because I had never been on a live podcast before. But after giving it some thought, I decided that saying yes and pushing myself out of my comfort zone is something I want to do more often, so I gladly said yes! We recently prepped for the podcast episode one-on-one, and during our meeting, we focused on two main things: engaging with each speaker to make the environment feel more conversational rather than a scripted interview, and crafting questions that would spark genuine conversation.

The prep went very well, which helped turn my anxiety into excitement for our next meeting with Melissa Cohen and Julie Michelle Morris, as well as the anticipated episode.

During my time at VPG, I learned how intellectual property functions within real-world legal disputes and the extensive work involved in protecting the creative class. I also came to understand that intellectual property extends far beyond patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights. It’s a strategic brand asset that enables companies like VPG to build recognition/trust, foster loyalty, drive brand value, and support long-term business growth by protecting intellectual property.

This is my final year of undergraduate studies at American University, and I will graduate in May. My experience working with Ashley and the VPG team has been spectacular and eye-opening. It has taught me important lessons and new skills that I will carry into law school and ultimately, my career. On a professional level, I have developed and strengthened skills such as taking initiative, communicating effectively with co-workers, paying attention to detail, expanding my network, and navigating challenges with confidence and an open mind, to name a few. On a personal level, I have been inspired by Ashley’s self-confidence, resilience, authenticity, and strong work ethic in her everyday life. Moreover, I hope to learn as much as I can during my time at VPG, because it has been an unforgettable experience and a privilege to work with Ashley and the team.
