First and foremost, I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to attend Virginia Tech. I will miss the on-campus arts program, Studio 72, which was instrumental in my college transition and helped me build a strong sense of community. The school spirit felt during football and basketball seasons; the traditions learned and the rush of excitement, cheering, and meeting up with friends with the occasional quest to get a picture with the famous Hokie Bird. Celebrating my first birthday away from home. I cherish the many firsts I’ve achieved, the new experiences I’ve had, and the incredible people I’ve met along the way. Although most of them have graduated, their impact will always stay with me.
This fall, I’m excited to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Statistics and a minor in Music.
One of the many lessons I learned from college is to embrace the moment. Life is unpredictable and passes so quickly. It is easy to dwell on negatives but, so important to stay present and
appreciate each moment as before you know it, it’s gone. Even as I look back fondly on good times, I remind myself not to get too fixated on “remember when's.” Instead, appreciate the moment and shift my focus on creating new memories!
Although college had its share of challenges—like tough classes that had me question my major, a remote freshman year due to the pandemic, and the initial setback of not landing an internship—these experiences ultimately opened doors to other exciting opportunities, one of them including an internship with VPG. These moments taught me the power of acceptance and staying positive. By focusing on what I could control and embracing each experience, I discovered valuable lessons and growth in unexpected places. I doubt it will be easy, but I strive to carry on this mindset in life.
As this chapter of my life wraps up, I am excited about the future and eager to see what’s next!
